Scholarship Opportunities 2018-2019

Are You Ready? Scholarship Season is HERE!

Last year, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation awarded nearly $2.2 million in scholarships to more than 730 students across the state. AcademicWorks, our online scholarship application site, will reopen Oct. 1, allowing students to begin applying for scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year.

After the site reopens, encourage your students to create a login and begin completing the first step of the application process - the General Application. This application funnels students into one of three applicant pools: high school, college and renewals. The sooner they complete the General Application, the sooner they can be considered for any and all Oklahoma City Community Foundation scholarships for which they are eligible.

Remind students to pay extra attention to deadlines as they vary depending on the scholarship - ESPECIALLY this year as many deadlines have changed.

How to Apply for an OCCF Scholarship

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has created a five-minute video with step-by-step instructions on how students can apply for a scholarship through our program. This video is a great tool for teachers, counselors and administrators to use when working with potential scholarship applicants!

Additional Scholarship Opportunities:

In addition to our scholarship program, there are many other scholarship opportunities available for students throughout the state of Oklahoma!

Oklahoma's Promise offers qualified Oklahoma students the opportunity to earn a scholarship for college tuition at an Oklahoma career tech, two-year college or four-year university.

Who is qualified?

·     Must be an Oklahoma resident.

·     Must be enrolled in 8th-10th grade.

·     Parents' annual federal adjusted gross income must not exceed $55,000.

OCAP Awarded FAFSA Completion Challenge Grant

The Oklahoma College Assistance Program (OCAP) has been selected to receive a 2018-19 FAFSA Completion Challenge Grant of up to $40,000 from the National College Access Network (NCAN). The grant is offered to areas with current FAFSA completion rates below the national average to encourage the area to increase its FAFSA completion rates by 5 percent in 2019.

High school seniors who complete FAFSA are more likely to attend college, so encourage your students to fill out FAFSA to improve their chances to attend college!

Searching for College Fairs?

The Oklahoma College Day/Night Coordination Committee (OCD/NCC) is a nonprofit organization serving Oklahoma students and promoting education beyond high school by helping students find the right college fit. Every year, they help organize college fairs across the state to help students learn more about colleges and to meet and cultivate relationships with college admissions officers from schools they are interested in attending.
